  1. In the beginning, I viewed Twitter and Facebook in the same light. But after using both for some time now, I consider them two different beasts.

From a business standpoint, Facebook charges you to put posts in from of YOUR fans; I’m referring to the ones that like your page. But if your business sells products aimed at adults, Facebook won’t let you promote to your OWN FANS.

Twitter doesn’t block the messages that are sent. If your followers are watching their feed, then your message will be seen. That is a big difference and enough of one to avoid spending too much time with FB.

Twitter won’t allow ads for products aimed at adults either, but at least they don’t interfere with the messages you are sending to your followers.

Yeah, I’m a Twitter fan now.

The other aspect of Twitter that I think makes it so popular is its “burst” mode of posts. On Twitter, everything is fast moving, and 140 characters per “bite”. It is perfect for those of us with limited attention spans!

Facebook is better suited to personal use, sharing your dog and baby pictures with in-laws. Twitter is better suited for everything else.
